Victoria, thank you. Datura is one of my favorite flowers. I’ve grown a couple of varieties from plants I bought at local greenhouses, and sometimes they’ve survived the winters. Sometimes not. I fence them off to prevent children and pets from getting near. Your photos are beautiful.
Well, now I know what jimson weed looks like! That’s what makes cows crazy, as well? Next, you’ll have to show me some real poison ivy. I had something in my back yard that I was very careful in removing that looked like it, but I wasn’t sure. Does that grow at Tod’s Point?
Poison ivy is all over the place in New England, especially by the shore. Right now the triads of leaves are shiny and green with new growth. They seem to be everywhere and a quick google search will give you a good picture. I hope you are able to avoid it because it itches like crazy & when scratched can spread. Yikes!
I tried Google and got conflicting info. Grows tall, like 3 feet, whitish stem, not really shiny leaves. Three leaves, some of which have “thumbs.” There was the possibility that it was box elder, but also possibly poison ivy. Grew back after cutting it down last year. The leaves in the background are a peony that’s immediate adjacent.

They are exquisite floral structures. Sad that they are poisonous. Thank you Mary!
